Keeping Up With The Mediaheads Newsletter: Season 8, Episode 1: M(AI) the force be with you.

In celebrating Workers Day, we took some time off and have returned at the back of a lazy long weekend. To ease into the week, we’ve enlisted the help of a machine learning algorithm to help us write this post, it’s by no means perfect but the result is quite fascinating.

As a specialist media agency, we’re always looking for ways to incorporate advanced technologies into our work. We believe that experimenting with these tools can help us be more efficient and effective, and ultimately provide better results for our clients. So, we were excited to see what our algorithm could come up with when we asked it to write our blog.

The first thing we noticed was how quickly the algorithm was able to produce a draft. Within seconds of inputting the topic, “The Importance of Long Weekends,” we had several paragraphs of text to work with. Of course, the text needed some editing and refining, but the basic structure and ideas were there.

One of the benefits of using machine learning to write a blog post is that it can bring a fresh perspective to the topic. As humans, we tend to approach things in a certain way based on our experiences and biases. However, machine learning algorithms are able to analyse vast amounts of data and identify patterns that we may not have noticed. This can lead to new insights and ideas that we might not have considered otherwise.

Another benefit of using machine learning to write a blog post is that it can be a time-saver. Writing a quality blog post can be a time-consuming task, especially if you’re doing it on a regular basis. By using a machine learning algorithm to generate a draft, you can save a significant amount of time and focus on other tasks that require your attention.

There are drawbacks. One of the main concerns is that the resulting text may lack the human touch and tone that readers expect from a post, especially when it is usually written from a personal angle. While algorithms are improving all the time, they still may not be able to capture the nuances of human communication and personality.

Another potential issue is that the algorithm may not be able to generate text that is completely original. While it can analyse vast amounts of data, it\’s still working within certain parameters and may produce text that is like other articles on the topic. There has also been much said about who owns the content that machine learning tools create, can it be considered an original source of work?

As a specialist agency that thrives in creativity and innovation, the AI conversation strikes me as one that will become more prominent over the next few months. From video, voice, text and images, the creative space is rapidly changing. It is up to us to enhance our skills and leverage the opportunities!

Note: The instruction to Chat AI was, “because of a long weekend we asked machine learning to generate a 500-word blog post” The first draft was delivered in 28 seconds at just over 600 words. Eighty five percent of the wording above is machine generated. In our opinion the piece is an interesting start in a space that is in rapid development.
